2019 NFL Draft- Best Fits for Top Prospects
KYLER MURRAY | QB - ARIZONA CARDINALS
From the minute Kilff Kingsbury accepted the Cardinals HC job the rumors immediately began to connect Kingsbury with Kyler Murray. Not only do the Cardinals have the #1 pick giving them the option to select Murray but he also fits Kingsbury’s offense better than current Cardinals QB Josh Rosen in multiple ways. This seems like one of the no-brainers in this year’s draft.
DEVIN WHITE | LB - TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS
In free agency the Tampa Bay Buccaneers let LB Kwon Alexander sign elsewhere opening up a big need at LB heading into draft night. Enter LSU LB Devin White. White was arguably one of the best all around LBs in all of college football and would be an instant impact payer for the Buccaneers and Todd Bowles’ defense.
MONTEZ SWEAT | EDGE - NEW YORK GIANTS
Earlier in the year the Giants traded their top pass rusher Olivier Vernon to the Browns and could replace him with their first pick with Montez Sweat. Sweat is a big, lengthy edge rusher who had a productive season at Mississippi State and flashed even more at both the Senior Bowl and the Combine. There is some health concerns surrounding Sweat and while it could have an impact on his career, his talent is still worthy of a top 10 pick and would be a good fit for the Giants defense.
DK METCALF | WR - BUFFALO BILLS
Last year the Buffalo Bills got their potential franchise QB in Josh Allen and since then the team has begun to surround him with more targets on offense with WRs John Brown and Cole Beasley along with TE Tyler Croft. While the team’s weapons on offense certainly look better on paper, the one thing they still lack leading up to the draft is a big bodied playmaker with down field speed for Allen’s tremendous arm. WR DK Metcalf could join Buffalo as the team’s instant #1 WR and a perfect target for Allen for the foreseeable future.
TJ HOCKENSON | TE - JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS
The Jaguars made one of the biggest moves in the off-season by signing QB Nick Foles viewing him as their franchise QB and hoping he can bring them back to the playoffs. With the Jaguars retaining a majority of their defense why not get Foles a big target on offense with TE TJ Hockenson? During his time in Philadelphia, Foles had a a great connection with TEs Zach Ertz and rookie Dallas Goedert and this could almost be a seemless transition for the former Superbowl wining QB. Hockenson would come into Jacksonville as one of the top weapons on offense but could also provide some blocking depth as well for the run game.
RASHAN GARY | EDGE/DL - MIAMI DOLPHINS
The Dolphins seem to be a team in full rebuild mode this season by hiring their new HC Brian Flores and trading QB Ryan Tannehill. Another move that many anticipated to happen for Miami this off-season was to sign DL Trey Flowers and reunited him with Flores. Flowers ended up signing with the Detroit Lions thus leading a big hole at pass rusher for the Dolphins. Enter Rashan Gary. The former Michigan pass rusher was once viewed as one of the top defenders in the draft but has since lost some draft stock and could find himself falling out of the top 10. He is does, Miami could be a great spot for him to develop under Flores’s guidance into the former top recruit that he once was coming out of high school.
