2023 NFL Mock Draft 1.0
-
David Tepper and HC Frank Reich did not want to wait for their QB and made the blockbuster trade with Chicago to get their guy, CJ Stroud. Some may think Bryce Young is the top QB but for Reich, Stroud is the better fit and will take command as the team’s QB of the future.
-
Houston was bracing for the idea of Bryce Young being selected #1 overall but with Stroud the pick for Carolina, HC DeMeco Ryans gets his guy with Young #2 overall.
-
Arizona needs some firepower in their pass rush group and do so with Will Anderson Jr. who would be fun in Johnathan Gannon’s defense.
-
The Colts will finally get their QB in the draft with Anthony Richardson who has the most upside of any QB and could give HC Shane Steichen some memories of Jalen Hurts.
-
Seattle lands arguably the best defender in the draft with Jalen Carter and if his off-field situation clears up could be the steal of the draft.
-
The Lions will look to continue their revamp of the defense with CB Devon Witherspoon whose physical play and instincts will certainly excite HC Dan Campbell.
-
After releasing Pro Bowl QB Derek Carr, Las Vegas finds their next QB in Will Levis who will look to develop with HC Josh McDaniels and their star offensive weapons.
-
Atlanta is in need of edge help and get one of the physical freaks in the draft with Tyree Wilson who would look to make an impact alongside veteran Grady Jarrett.
-
After trading back the GM Ryan Poles and the Bears help out their young QB Justin Fields by pairing him with a former teammate in Paris Johnson Jr. who should step in day 1 as the team’s starting RT with potential to switch sides if Braxton Jones doesnt develop as most hope.
-
Philadelphia id likely losing CB James Bradberry to free agency and Oregon’s Christian Gonzalez would be a great replacement option. The 6-2 CB has the size and physical traits that teams love in the modern NFL.
-
The Titans parted ways with veteran OT Taylor Lewan and are in dire need of OL help for RB Derrick Henry. Broderick Jones is a great OT prospect with good athleticism who has as much upside as any lineman in the draft.
-
Houston got their QB of the future with their first pick and decide to get a strong pass rusher here with Lukas Van Ness. The Iowa prospect is one of the quick risers in the draft and could garner alot of interest from teams who need a powerful pass rusher.
-
New York could use a stable force at LT and Peter Skoronski is the top option on the board. He may lack ideal size and length but has the experience and traits that could make him an NFL starter for the next decade.
-
New England hasnt seemed to have found their go-to WR since the retirement of Julian Edelman a few years back and Jaxon SMith-Njigba could certainly bring some excitement.
-
Green Bay has a great young pass rusher in Rashan Gary and pairing him with a rookie like Myles Murphy on the other end could form a good young tandem for the Packers future.
-
Washington has one of the strongest DL in the league but could use some help in the secondary. Brian Branch is a versatile S who can play in the box or cover deep and has the potential be the top DB in the Commanders lockerroom.
-
One of the Steelers best defensive players in the 2000s was Joey Porter and it makes too much sense not to add his son to the Steelers defense. The 6-2 CB would add much needed talent to the Steelers secondary and would be so much fun to watch next to Minkah Fitzpatrick.
-
The Lions continue to add defenders with great upside in Bryan Bresee who has as much potential as any DL in the draft. If Bresee can stay healthy watch out for him as a potential steal in the first round.
-
CB Jamel Dean will likely be hitting the open market and Maryland’s Deonte Banks seems like a good fit for HC Todd Bowles’ defense.
-
Seattle nabbed the top Georgia Bulldog in Jalen Carter with their first pick and go back to the well for their other top defender in Nolan Smith who has great potential and could break out with his teammate Carter.
-
FORFEITED
-
Some will watch Pittsburgh’s Calijah Kancey and see glimpses of Aaron Donald and while thats wildly unrealistic, the speedy lineman is the most explosive DL in the draft and should pair well with the Chargers pass rushers.
-
If the Ravens truly plan to stick with QB Lamar Jackson, getting him a big body WR in Quentin Johnston would be a great pickup for the Ravens offense.
-
Minnesota parted ways with former Pro Bowl LB Eric Kendricks so drafting the top LB in Trenton Simpson would make the move alot more palatable. The Clemson defender is a complete LB and can both cover the field as well as rush the QB.
-
Jacksonville could use more depth in their secondary and CB Cam Smith would an upgrade for their team. The reliable tackler could slot in nicely across from Tyson Campbell and add yet another young defender to one of the youngest teams in the league.
-
New York has hitched their wagon to QB Daniel Jones and no better way to help him out then to get the best route runner in Jordan Addison. The USC prospect may not be the fastest or biggest but he can run some of the prettiest routes and would be a big upgrade for the Giants offense.
-
The Cowboys will have to find some help on their OL in the near future and it feels like owner Jerry Jones will fall in love with OT Dawand Jones. The literal mammoth of a human being is a brick wall with feet who is nimble and could start for Dallas at RT as a rookie.
-
Buffalo could add an interior OL prospect and O’Cyrus Torrence is the top one on the board. The big lineman has an NFL ready frame and would big a great duo next to RT Spencer Brown.
-
Cincinnati is still looking for help on the OL and Darnell Wright is a riser since his solid performance in the Senior Bowl who could garner more attention as we get closer to the draft.
-
New Orleans takes a gamble in the first round with Darnell Washington who is a physical freak at TE and could wind up going higher than some anticipate. Since the Saints got their QB in Derek Carr, its only right to get him another target and Washington could be that guy.
-
This is more of a luxury pick than anything but adding Bijan Robinson to the Eagles offense would not only be so much fun to watch but would make their rushing attack that much more lethal.
-
Rounding out the first round are the champion Kansas City Chiefs who add a fast rising edge defender in Keion White who has scheme versatility and would be a fun project for DC Steve Spagnuolo
