Kareem Hunt- 3rd Round (86 Overall)

The Kansas City Chiefs entered the season with Spencer Ware as their lead RB but since his injury, Kareem Hunt has taken his place and I not looking back. The 3rd round pick from Toledo has over 700 rushing yards so far this season and close to 1000 total yards while amassing 6 TDs as well. Not only has Hunt been one of the more impressive rookies this year but right now he may be one of the more impressive RBs in the league and looks to be the Chiefs next star RB.

As the 2016 season comes to an end in just a few short weeks why don’t we take a glance at how this rookie class has turned out after their first year in the NFL. Obviously, we must start at the quarterback position where we have seen the rise of potential franchise QBs in the making with Philadelphia’s Carson Wentz and Dallas’s Dak Prescott while #1 overall pick Jared Goff still is still figuring things out in Los Angeles and Paxton Lynch is simply not capable of beating out Trevor Siemian for the job in Denver. While this years’ quarterback class has only produced a few starters, two QBs to keep an eye on heading into 2017 and beyond are Cleveland’s Cody Kessler and New York’s Christian Hackenberg who could have opportunities to compete for the starting job next season.

The NFL season is underway and through three weeks there are several story-lines that are worth following including the up and down season of the Minnesota Vikings led by new quarterback or maybe even the New England Patriots 3-0 start led by two backup quarterback. No story though seems to be bigger than the resurgence of the Philadelphia Eagles led by rookie sensation Carson Wentz. From the start of the 2015 college football season until now, Wentz has gone from an unknown prospect with good potential to one of the most polarizing players in the NFL this season. The truth is that no one really expected the Eagles to be dominating games the way they are this season and the performances Wentz has been displaying this year are nothing short of spectacular.

This week was a successful week for rookie defensive backs as several rookies are having successful preseason’s including Minnesota’s Mackensie Alexander and Jayron Kearse and Tampa Bay first round pick Vernon Hargreaves. While each of these rookies may not be day 1 starters on their defenses, each one will look to carve out decent playing time this season if they can finish preseason strong and eventually earn sporting roles.

Carl Nassib continues to display his passing rushing ability for Cleveland as he records another sack in preseason this week against Atlanta. Cleveland hoped that former 1st round pick Barkevious Mingo would be their star defender, yet Nassib may be the pass rusher they were looking for all along.

The wait is over; football is back! Preseason is under way and it is a great time of year to be a football fan. Not only do fans get to watch their favorite teams play after a long offseason but they are also given an opportunity to get a small glimpse of this year’s rookie class. While some may think preseason is boring, these next four weeks could have a huge impact on the decision’s made by team’s front offices regarding who they will keep or release.
