t wasn’t too long ago that USC QB Sam Darnold was garnered as the next top QB to enter the NFL Draft and after his impressive performance vs Penn State in the Rose Bowl, all eyes were on Darnold this season. Many individuals, myself included, ranked Darnold as the top QB entering college football this season and the consensus was that he would enter the enter in 2018. No QB in college football will have more attention and hype surrounding him than USC’s Sam Darnold. The sophomore sensation took over as a freshman and led the Trojans on a 9 game in streak including his Heisman worthy performance against Penn State in the Rose Bowl. Now as the full time starter at QB, Darnold looks to lead USC back into the national championship picture and if he can show the same flashes this season as he did back in 2016, Darnold may end up being the #1 overall pick come April.

In the NFL it is known that the most important position is QB and it’s not even close. Sure there are teams who win with a defensive juggernaut like the Seahawks or the Broncos, but if a team does not have at least a decent QB, playoff chances are slim to none. For the most part, QBs used to be bona-fide stars in college football who were projected into the NFL since their freshman or sophomore years like Andrew Luck at Stanford or Carson Palmer at USC. Teams handed these types of QBs the keys to the team in hopes they could re-vamp their franchises and so far, some have worked out for the better. New York Jets- This Years Cleveland Browns?

Of course no team intentionally loses games because they could lose the interest of their fans, but how far are teams willing to go to find that next franchise changing player?
